Sailing in Croatia – Why?

To explore Croatia by sea is to reveal its true secrets – sailing in Croatia is definitely the best way to check all the beauties. Croatia has it all – the range of sailing options, the spectacular scenery, the untouched bays, over thousand islands, one of the sunniest coastlines in Europe, UNESCO-protected historic cities, picturesque villages, quiet bays, exciting nightlife, diverse gastronomic offer, fair winds for sailing and, most importantly, clear, calm and clean waters around them. Europe’s finest sailing playground is an app. two hours by plane from all Europe’s destination. It’s affordable, safe (at sea and on shore) and contains a diversity of destinations for sailing routes. Waypoint is here to welcome you and assure you memorable sailing vacation either you’re into sailboats or catamaran charter.

Sailing in Croatia – When?

The charter season is between April and October with the peak in July and August, when the temperatures can reach 38°C, this is definitely the most popular time of the year for Yacht charter Croatia. June and September are less crowded but the weather is generally very warm and sunny. April, May and October can surprise with summer temperatures, as well as with occasional showers, but these months are ideal for those looking for peace and good winds. Serious sailors may prefer the more challenging weather conditions in April and October or join a winter sailing regatta.

Sailing in Croatia – Where?

Central Dalmatia meets the requirements of most holidaymakers, starting with the marinas and charter bases within easy reach of Split airport that is well connected with the rest of the world. The most of our fleet is in Trogir, some bigger yachts are in Seget Donji near Trogir – both marinas are only 30 km from Split, perfect spot to start Sailing in Croatia. Brač and Hvar as the most popular destinations are an easy sail away from Trogir. Scores of picturesque anchorages and village harbours lie peacefully between the busier and more discovered towns. For a longer sail, there’s the more distant but very interesting island of Vis and beautiful Blue Cave on Biševo. For a Dalmatian time warp try Šolta. High rollers should head to Trogir and Hvar town. After partying all night in Hvar, relax at the neighbouring Pakleni islands, the perfect anchorage to soothe the spirits and some very interesting restaurants and bars.

Further south is Dubrovnik where is situated another part of our fleet, another super sailing destination. Pelješac is a favourite with experienced sailors for its weather conditions. The picturesque town of Korčula is a popular land-based tourist destination but the island has plenty more to offer. Mljet’s saltwater lakes and large bays make for popular anchorages in summer. Remote Lastovo has good berthing facilities for passing yachts and a number of restaurants in Zaklopatica bay and Skrivena Luka. Close to Dubrovnik, Lopud and Šipan are islands to escape from the metropolis – for both sailors and ferry passengers.

Sailing in Croatia – How?

Charter a sailboat from a reliable charter company that offers well equipped, perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean sailboats at reasonable prices. Waypoint, an independent charter company based in Split, charters only its own boats and guarantees the accuracy of the information presented. Sailboats are chartered: bareboat, with the skipper or with the crew (skipper, hostess, cook).

Novice sailors can charter a boat with a qualified skipper, go on island hopping, and find out as much, or as little, about sailing as they’d like. If your party includes someone with a skipper’s ticket there’s a multitude of charter options, with sailboats and catamarans, while high rollers can take a fully crewed luxury catamaran and cruise the party hotspots.
